Talking from experience, getting people out of abusive situations like that is impossibly difficult, because as you’ve said people generally convince themselves that their situation is tolerable or otherwise okay. It’s horribly saddening, to say the least :(

@Chel @Lexi Yep. Had a similarly abusive situation in the family around 2003 - de facto foster sister latched onto a piece of bad news, got married, and spent two years with him before eventually leaving. Getting the abused to realise that they *do* have a choice can be /very/ difficult.
