re: Hot take; resolutions

@slightlyflightyone@vulpine.club @KitsuneAlicia@octodon.social yeah, that's totes valid tbh. depends on perspective, art style, etc.

re: Hot take; resolutions

@Chel @KitsuneAlicia @slightlyflightyone I'm just gonna waltz in and irritate everyone :) by talking about my 4k 24" display that has text I can read without doing an eye check to make sure I'm not going blind. Also the Rift that's 90fps and a relatively high DPI screen but still not nearly enough because of distance lenses.

@feathers @KitsuneAlicia@octodon.social @slightlyflightyone@vulpine.club no irritation here, I can definitely see value in that tbh :blobthinking:

and in the need for absurd display specs for VR related stuff x3

re: Hot take; resolutions

@Chel @slightlyflightyone @KitsuneAlicia I think it's kinda true though that it's overkill for most gaming scenarios. I have FF14 running at max effects, at 4K, 60fps, and it's like staring into the Ark of the Covenant. XD Gorgeous but also kind of pointless for playing the game >_>

re: Hot take; resolutions

@feathers @Chel @slightlyflightyone @KitsuneAlicia And it makes your chat log font really tiny because the game doesn't appear to let you configure that font size.

re: Hot take; resolutions

@Chel @slightlyflightyone @KitsuneAlicia tbh the thing that irritates me most about the rift (and similar devices) is that they seem to assume that no one wears glasses. Where, statistically speaking, I'm guessing that most people who would use one *will* be wearing glasses. My eyesight is so bad that it would make more sense to simply put the screen the right distance from my eyes and take away the fancy lenses. I've done that to view 3D photos on my phone, it works great and I get great resolution. Instead I have a Frankenstein monster of lenses hanging off my face, warped vision, screendoor effects, etc... *sigh*
