That goes for about any remotely tech-centric gathering spot where there's any amount of 35+s. Star Trek was about as scientific and cerebral as TV got back then, so it was the most natural choice for "nerd" culture of the early internet to cling to. And, well...I guess it's true what they say. You never forget your first "love"
