Oh I tell a lie it did do one functional thing, which was to remove the ability for customers to auto pay for 5p disposable bags because we're not doing them any more soon.
@Nine in my state (Queensland, AU) the government recently banned plastic disposable bags. Are other places doing it too?
@dean
In England we only just introduced a mandatory 5p charge for them on 5th October 2015, and companies are only just now "phasing out" disposable plastic bags voluntarily, my company being one of them. We do everything ridiculously slowly and largely begrudgingly
@Nine ah, our plastic bags have been free forever but the government is sick of the litter and completely banned them now. Grocery stores now sell reusable bags or biodegradable bags instead.
I've always used the reusable bags, and would only use the plastic ones if I forgot to bring them.
Good to see that the companies sorta care about the environment, though.
@dean
Tbh I wish England had just outright banned them entirely rather than this half measure thing because my shop has had to put up with people just refusing to pay for them and stealing them instead or putting through the reusable bags which are only a couple pence more through as the disposable ones. :/
