That bit in FF7 you see this shinra soldier walking back and forth facing towards the screen constantly, all weird and flaily like he's constantly off balance so you go talk to him and then "It's me. Red XIII." and you get this whole conversation about how it's hard to walk on two legs, but he thinks he's blended in really well...
and then he's scripted to turn around and walk back across the deck that same way, but his model adds the swaying tail then!
@roadrunner @jk it's so good, it's such a great little visual gag and it cracks me up every single time, it's so well done.
@roadrunner @jk Barret's goddamn costume too. and then you can catch him in the bathroom of the house admiring himself XDDD
@roadrunner @jk I always read that line as him genuinely trying to think of a complement to not anger or upset barret and just... not being able to see anything else and just he's like "Ah it's.. v-very... snrk... i... I'm SORRY MAN YOU LOOK LIKE A GODDAMN BEAR WEARING A MARSHMALLOW HAHAHAHA" and just nearly dying laughing despite himself. ^^;
@roadrunner @jk this is also super acceptable and pretty much VERY supported by canon. certainly way more than my reading. Cloud always was awkward and shy and nervous, the whole persona he puts on throughout the game is actually an imitation of his best friend Zack that's partly him trying to cope with the huge trauma of everything that happened to him, Tifa and Zack, and partly Jenova and Sephiroth messing with his head. Poor kid.
@roadrunner @jk so much same. I loved FF7 for this sort of thing but it was such a shame that because of the translation job and the way it was written a lot of this had to be read between the lines or inferred rather than just written well into the game??
@roadrunner @jk can say from experience I had nobody to bounce thoughts off when I was playing it originally. ^^; sooo yeah, it's way more enjoyable when you get to talk about it and bounce thoughts off about it. ^^
