looking at magic eye pictures and I notice now how the textures need to be repeating because the images on each eye have to match off-phase for the effect to work
noticed this by counting some design spots on the textures, when looked at normally there's n spots, but when looking at the 3D you perceive n+1 because it's overlapping the two eyes wrong

@Efi I had never realised how these things worked! I actually can't get them to work nowadays. ;w; I dunno why but I can never view them properly any more but I used to be able to do it really easily when I was younger.

they are based on actual rendered 3D shapes because they use a B&W image as displacement map for a texture iirc
the problem with looking at them if your eyes don't focus fast is you can't line up the texture when it's out of focus
a bright room should help a lot with that, and blue light
