this isn't even a shitpost

Phil Belanger, a founding member of the Wi-Fi Alliance who presided over the selection of the name "Wi-Fi", has stated that Interbrand invented Wi-Fi as a pun on the word hi-fi (High fidelity), a term for high-quality audio technology.

i can't believe they're catering to the uninformed masses by calling the various mainstream wifi versions "wi-fi 1", "wi-fi 2", etc

everyone should be able to remember and distinguish between 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11h, 802.11i, 802.11-2007, 802.11-2012, 802.11ac, 802.11ad, 802.11af, 802.11-2016, 802.11ah, 802.11ai, 802.11aj, 802.11aq, 802.11ax, and 802.11ay

Hi I have a problem with my WiFi it says it's 802.11g but when I try to tune into that frequency David Hayter screams at me demanding how I got his number in a gravelly voice and then the call cuts off when the guards are alerted to his presence
