welp at least file extensions for roms are all standard and

*looks at the .bin files which comprise both cd images for both Sega CD and PS1 (with accompanying cue files and sometimes mp3s for audio tracks), and also some Megadrive/genesis roms*
oh no

*finds also .SMD and .MD megadrive roms*

ohno.png

*looks at all the zipfiles for mame roms*
oh noooooo D:

@Nine cartridge-based ones seem to be pretty consistent at least

.gb, .gbc, .gba, .nds, .nes, .sfc, .n64

@Nine *nintendo cartridge based ones, at least

then disc ones have iso, bin/cue, and at least one other format out there

and that one really weird thing the psvita uses for its ps1 games

@Felthry heck I forget the Psp/psvita exists and I can emulate it. ... ... at least I think I can.

@Nine on a raspberry pi? psp would be a maybe, vita would be too much to ask I think

@Felthry yeah, I actualyl wasn't sure if the Vita and the PSP were different consoles at all, but I guess the Vita is actually a lot more powerful than the PSP, but yeah. I can't think of any games on the PSP I would actually want?

@Nine also there are probably a lot! psp got updated ports of a lot of older games, like Final Fantasy Tactics, Ys 1 and 2, and a bunch of others I can't remember right now

@Nine also there was a tactics spinoff of wild arms on it

@Nine hold on while I boot up our psvita to see what psp games we put on it

@Felthry oh sweet! I could def do with some recommendations for it because I think I might give it a shot

long

@Nine there's a psp native port of final fantasy vii, sega genesis collection is on there, final fantasies i, ii, and iii, breath of fire iii, basically every ys game up to ys 7 with the exception of iv (which got a vita remake instead in the form of Memories of Celceta), Wild ARMs XF, Tactics Ogre, Star Ocean Second Evolution (a remake of The Second Story), Final Fantasy Tactics, Crisis Core, Castlevania Dracula X (which also includes Symphony of the Night as bonus content), Star Ocean First Departure (the only time the first Star Ocean game has gotten an english version), Tales of Eternia, and then of course there's a bunch of ps1 games on here too

re: long

@Nine (certainly willing to recommend PS1 games too if you like!)

long

@Felthry Oh dang I thought that Dracula X and Symphony of the Night were coming to PS4, so I looked it up, and turns out the PSP version actually changed the script and voice acting...

So i checked out THAT iconic scene, right at the beginning, for it, and...

holy heck that is WAY better than the "so bad it's hilariously good" 97 version's opening. The dialogue is genuinely CHILLING, as is the delivery!
