Racism in video games
@ifixcoinops holy shit... I just realised how many fucking games just... took Winston out of the Ghostbusters games entirely. EVERY single version I remember of Ghostbusters games have Winston basically not be there...
Racism in video games
@Nine It's not like Data East didn't know how to make a 4-player cabinet, they were super-common at the time and 3-player ones were quite rare
Racism in video games
@ifixcoinops right??? Fuckin' Gauntlet for crying out loud. TMNT! Bucky Oh Hare! I saw a 3 player cabinet for Gauntlet once, but that was like... clearly not the cabinet made for the board in it. I think it was that exact cabinet, but with the Ghostbusters decals removed.
Racism in video games
@Nine Bucky O'Hare ruled. That one could go in a 2, 3, or 4-player cabinet, with common or independent coin mechs, with mono or stereo sound, all on one board and selected via dipswitches. Konami had things Sorted Out by then.
Racism in video games
@ifixcoinops I played a rom dump of it a while ago and holy damn it's actualyl a REALLY good game, hard as balls becuase obviously, arcade game, it's meant to chew coins up all day long even on Easy mode and with Freeplay. But... yeah. holy balls such good spritework and design.
Racism in video games
@Nine The music is still not completely emulated, there's some wacky analogue effects that MAME doesn't do. Konami put a LOT of effort into a game that was based on a very flash-in-the-pan cartoon show, to the extent that Konami gave the series a proper ending because the show was cancelled. The audio design is a masterpiece.
Racism in video games
@ifixcoinops oh dang. That's... Actually kinda awesome!.. I mean, I'm guessing the original comics had an ending and a resolution right??
Racism in video games (now more of a Bucky O'Hare arcade game thread)
@ifixcoinops I don't think I ever saw the ending of the game sadly, or at least I can't remember it, but I do remember the arcade game having a great story
