Cutie Kappa girl as a mascot for a particular Street/shopping area.

Also Don Quixote is a really weird store but absolutely amazing... Though they do have a strangely alluring penguin girl mascot advertising their tights line.

@Nine Ahhhhhh! I've been to that exact Don Quijote! It's a really good one!

I love that whole area of Tokyo even if it is super touristy!

Hit them up at the end of your trip to spend the last of your yen! I loaded up on cheap kitchenwares, kitkats, and booze!

@RC though seeing all the cute halloween outfits for girls gave me a fair bit of bad gender feels because I wanted so desperately to wear them but knew they'd a) never fit and b) I would never look that cute in them. ;;

@Nine Shopping for clothes was impossible there, I regret ever trying.

@RC japan is beautiful and i gotta say they have a REAL eye for fashion but hghghgasklfllhlkgjasflk if you are not japanese and/or not of 'acceptable beauty standards' shall we say, do not eeeeeven try to buy clothes I quickly found out. ;;

why world so cruel

More Japan photos

@RC (this is also partly reason I never went to Harajuku. 1) intimidated by beautiful fashions I could never wear 2) worried I'd be judged because am very unfashionable 3) nothing would be in my size anyway and that would just feel awful ;;

@Nine Hecking same. Didn't go to Harijuku. I would do Tokyo completely differently next time I go.

More Japan photos

@RC oh absolutely same.

for one I would go to Don Quixote in Asakusa WAY more often that shop rocks :3

also Akibahara I would walk around more I've got a couple of great photos of some of the back alleys there, not nearly enough though.

Also next time I go (because I definitely plan to), we totally plan to spend WAY more time up in the Sakaeya ryokan in Yamanouchi because that inn is just so lovely and so are the staff there ;w;

@Nine My ryokan experience in Yamanouichi was my favorite part too!

Honestly my next Japan trip would be: go to museums, go to Nichome first night in Tokyo and don't expect to to get back to the hostle, less shopping, only go to arcades outside of Tokyo, and more ryokans, possibly a hot springs tour.

@RC :O Did you get to stay in Sakaeya as well??!? The staff there were so lovely!! We even got to see the staff perform a taiko drumming concert and it was INCREDIBLE!! So talented, and the music was amazing!

We also timed it badly/well, because there was the tsukimi festivals going on (slightly disrupted by Hagibis sadly ;_;) and also a sake festival that was lovely to encounter!
