Yesterday it took like an hour to get fully through US customs in the airport because, among other things, everyone had to go through these desks where a real person checks your passport (again) and asks what you were doing out of the country...
There were 20 desks for this, each with 4 stations (I know because they were numbered)
There were only 2 people actually doing this thing - half of one desk open

Oh anyway US customs also asked if I happened to have any snails or soil, perchance
