honestly i think the main thing i look for in a cup of coffee is a good coffee smell when im making it. the coffee itself could just be hot black water and i probably wouldnt notice if the tin smelled nice enough

@envgen coffee smells so much nicer than it tastes doesnt it. i wish it tasted how it smells. to be honest though i don't even care how it smells i just dont want to be sleepy all the time

@jk @envgen FUCKIN MOOD OH MY GOD

I cannot stand the taste of coffee at all, no matter what. People keep going "oh you've just not had GOOD coffee here try this" and I do and it's just UAHGAL:SJKFA:LKGNOPENOPEPLEASEGETITOFFMYTONGUEAUGHHELPICANSTILLTASTEIT

but you take me into a coffee shop (a proper one, where they roast the beans there, not starbucks with their fake ass coffee bullshit smell ugh hate that place), and I can just sit there by the bean roaster <3

@jk @envgen one of my fondest memory is just... back when I was a little kid, and mum taking me with her shopping, and invariably we'd walk down this little alley in Guildford town centre, and there was a proper coffee shop down there, tiny little thing, but oh god the smell was divine. just... mnh.. I used to LOVE going shopping JUST for that smell. <3

@Nine @jk i used to love pouring the tiny lil jug of warm milk (or one of those lil pots of UHT, i wasnt fussy) into the dregs of my mom's coffee when she'd finished drinking. that was my lil treat

@Nine @envgen the thing is, i like the taste of coffee, but i am 100% aware that i just like it because i associate it with feeling more awake & motivated?? like, its in that category of things-that-taste-more-interesting-than-nice, like some alcoholic drinks etc.

another thing like that for me is olives. i will eat them on their own and i enjoy the taste because it's interesting and complex, but i haven't yet found a food where putting olives on (or in) it actually improves it at all

food adj

@jk @envgen Hm...

....well, sliced black olives (not too many!) can be great on a pizza! usually you want it with something that's already got a good strong, but not overpowering flavour, and you want like... a couple. so like... parma ham and mushrooms, and just... a small scattering of like, maybe a couple olives, sliced thin.

Else, you want them like, pitted, just like a bunch, with some sort of antipasto starter.

food adj

@jk @envgen Though, bread with olives in it is pretty friggin nice ngl

food adj

@Nine @envgen whenever i get olives on pizza i eat a couple of slices with olives and then i'm like "hmm, not sure these are really adding much, and i can't really taste the olives" and decide to take the olives off the pizza and eat them separately. usually the olives fall off the pizza on their own though. so theyre probably into the idea too
