see isolated thunderstorms are the ones that give a loud boom of thunder and then either are really proud of themselves and do it again, or are really quiet after and morose because nobody is around to hear them and see how good their thunder was.

Scattered ones are the ones where you hear only part of the thunderstorm, and other places around hear the other bits, and you gotta like, download the whole thing via a stormTorrent file and get all the pieces together.
