regular expressions are a good skill to have
trying to debug an existing regex pattern is hell but just banging one out real quick for something is very useful
for example, if you're inventing dnd and decide at the last minute to replace the "mage" class with "wizard" and just to a find replace, regexes can prevent you from accidentally changing "damage" to "dawizard"
