when i was a kid i swear people used to say "microchips" more often than they do now. nowadays people say like. computer chips. silicon chips. ICs. etc. but i swear "microchip" used to be the main one people said. maybe the Microchip corporation started suing everyone to avoid becoming a genericized trademark
