what would be the gender neutral term for a humanoid robot. since android includes "andros" i guess maybe if we changed that to "anthropos" so anthropoid?

i honestly just dislike the term android bc of that masculine implication and like i get that its not supposed to specifically mean male looking robots but i cant shake it
also dont get me started on "gynoid"

@pup_hime apparently droid would be the more used term but apparently george lucas (yes that george lucas) managed to successfully sue for rights to that word, even after it was used originally by Frank Herbert in his story, Dune.

That's right.

Despite prior use, lucas sued, AND WON, the right to use the term, stealing it from a writer who used the term before him.

Even Google stepped back from calling their OS "Droid" because of that lawsuit :/

@pup_hime yeah that's true, fair point.

Megasphere uses the term "Humaniform" instead for its lead character, ATAI, who apparently is some kind of robotic humanoid lifeform?
