you: i think focusing on material success is a waste of time. you can't take it with you when you die! i prefer to cultivate moral virtue, humbleness, and an attitude of love and respect

me: you can't take that either!! you can't take anything!!!

this is an interesting one, because i suspect some people would think that it was arguing that material success therefore ISN'T a waste of time (Battle of Ideas With A Winner) and some people would think that it was arguing that they're both a waste of time, or at least equally a waste of time (Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis?)

in fact, a big pattern you see a lot, and is really readily identifiable on social media, is: a discussion where someone says X = 1, someone replies suggesting that X does NOT equal 1, and then the subsequent third parties who assume this must mean that X = -1 are confronted by fourth-parties who want to correct them by telling them that, in fact, X not being equal to 1 means that X = 0
