Gotta stop thinking that video editing is some kind of magic I can't do. I got the tools, just need to set aside the time to learn them.
@Saxxon I've found that making a YouTube Poop seems to be a good way to really learn a video editor since you're encouraged to explore and see whatever wacky stuff it can do.
You're also not under any sort of time or quality pressure like you would be if you were doing video editing for some sort of serious purpose.
