Yesterday, I ran across someone trying to shame another for blocking them.

Opinion: Block or mute whomever you want, for any reason you want, at any time you want. It's perfectly acceptable under Mastodon guidelines.

One of the joys of being on Mastodon is the freedom to create one's own atmosphere, and choose one's own friends.

This is what it means to be free; to have a choice.

@Gleng2 OK, but what if there's an account you followed, and you wanted to follow it, and it's giving you information that you want to have, but all the posts - the constant, never-ending stream that overwhelms everything else. I unfollowed. And I feel guilty, because it's important, but I just can't.

@ScottSoCal Another thing that I do is set up a separate "Home List" and switch back and forth between the standard Home screen or even have them both up at the same time as Pinned Lists. You can easily move folks on or off your home list whenever you want to clean up your incoming messages.

This helps me to be more engaged with my core group of folks that I like to carry on conversations with; and yet still keep in touch with everyone I'm following.
