#diversity

The last 24 hours on #mastadon looking at everybody's bio pages. Meeting new people, with different backgrounds, jobs, interests. So different from my life.

Who may live close to me or thousands of miles. And yet we connect. I think that's a perfect analogy of why I have always been so happy to be #progressive .

That is what makes the world wonderful to me. Diversity. Learning about new people, cultures, ideas. It amazes me that people want to condemn that and demand assimilation.

I surprise people who know me from work, if we ever start talking about things beyond work. At work I'm systematic, even rigidly inflexible. That's what I'm supposed to be.
Outside that - let your freak flag fly! I've borrowed heels from drag queens to dance in, I've been on stage in a thong and oil and nothing else, I've been auctioned off as part of a fundraiser.
All just part of being human, and alive.

@ScottSoCal I completely get that. Especially living here in deep Red Texas. I always try to keep my work life and my social media life separate. Not only is it necessary for my mental health but my possible physical well-being as well.
