I live in SoCal, and everything is made for cars, with no thought given to walking. I usually do walk at the weekends, but it's actually dangerous with the way things are laid out. If I didn't have confidence in my own ability to dodge cars, or if I was in a wheelchair, I wouldn't be able to. My town needs a redesign.
@ScottSoCal Yeah, from what I’ve seen from the US (never actually been there, just TV/films I know it’s all built in “car’s reach” so I don’t blame you or anybody who can’t do it as easily as European probably can.
I have respect for the people who really pit a lot of effort into escaping that scheme and still walk or cycle, despite the dangerous environment.
