It's been years since I've read the books - mostly just the movies. And I do like how nearly all the stars of the movies have protested her views publicly.
@ScottSoCal the movies cut out a lot of the more mean spirited stuff, like the fatphobia, SPEW, and other more “wait what the hell” stuff.

@ScottSoCal unfortunately, when you look back you see a lot of subtle transphobia (and also just shaming on appearances, especially weight) in the books? Like Rita Skeeter was always described as looking masculine and having “mannish hands” for example. Her characterization of lycanthropy in her words as an HIV allegory too, especially as Lupin was the exception to werewolves who generally side with Voldemort, and Fenrir who “converts” children. 😬
