The real story behind all those UFOs the Air Force was shooting down last week is quite embarrassing.
Iβm guessing someone at NORAD has now figured out why the sensitivity settings on the radar was turned down in the first place.
It was at an altitude that posed a risk to commercial aircraft. It needed to be shot down, no matter who put it up there.
They reported the altitude, and it posed a risk. It needed to be shot down.

That's debatable. The FAA places no restriction on such devices.
