In my field the bait is knowing that things I hold in my hands are now in space, doing science, answering some questions and creating a bunch of new questions. It's intoxicating. But then there's KPI tracking, and "integration across units" and new setups that hamper the work instead of helping it. I reminisce about the time a program manager and I did an ad-hoc failure analysis by gowning up, going into the lab, and dunking things in liquid nitrogen, to see what happens.
