was watching plex late last night, and heard a tremendous KRAK! sound come from the basement. movie stopped playing a few seconds later
checked on the server, and it was dead in the water. here’s why. anyone recognize that component in the PSU? some kind of filter or conditioner? it had a full explosive meltdown, RIFA-style.
i really, really hope this didn’t take out any hard drives or the motherboard with it.
That looks like a ceramic-body capacitor.

Line conditioner, to keep the output stable, would be my guess. When it went, no output.
