The #Metaverse - the once-buzzy technology that promised to allow users to hang out awkwardly in a disorientating video-game-like world - has died after being abandoned by the business world.
I was really interested in those VR headsets, until Zuckerberg bought them, and made a Faceborg account mandatory to use them. Nuh-uh. Ain't gonna do that. Keep your damn headset.
@ScottSoCal@shawngoldwater Yeah, it seemed like it had a lot of potential before the zuck got his hands on it. I tried it for art (3D painting), astronomy (virtual planetarium), gaming (admittedly the least interesting to me), and education (the 3D Space station simulator). All seemed like great ways to use the tech, it was really, really well done.
