About 20 years ago is when I learned that ordering a double-shot espresso outside of the US gives you a tiny bit of concentrated rocket fuel at the bottom of a tiny little mug. And that they expect you to drink it. That surprised me.
I expected them to dilute the rocket fuel in a mug of actual coffee.
