Hey #linux people (or whoever but I like Linux)

I need a good basic guide on setting up a #RAID server for media storage. I don't know what level I want, but this would be where master media files would live. So stability is key.

Also taking recs on what drives & setup items to buy as the articles I've read give too many options.

What do you need your up-time to be? Is this a critical, 24/7 setup, or can it be taken down for maintenance? If the latter, almost anything will work. If the former, you need a drive housing with hot-swap capability.

@ScottSoCal it's just a personal media server, so going down for maintenance isn't an issue

Is data redundancy important, or can you just reload it if a drive fails?
