Today we were learning about how feeling pain works on a neuroanatomical level and I just HAD to ask about the mechanisms of masochism.. didn't get an answer this time but the professor said he'll look into it for me and tell me next week :3

@njion I'm not an expert or even a student on the subject matter but I understand that the region of the brain that handles pain is pretty close to the region of the brain that handles pleasure, so the wires might get "crossed" sometimes

@SteelWool It's.. more complicated than that.. I mean the regions that process pain are pretty much adjacent to those that handle all the other sensations but there no distinction is made between pleasant and unpleasant sensations. I'm not entirely sure where that happens and how information from both modalities in question gets there.
