I suddenly have like two blog post ideas.

One would be a cool Doom mod I played that is an homage/remake to a really lame 1994 FPS.

The other was explaining how Sonic CD's gameplay differences make it stand out as a good game as well as subverting the trope of what people think Sonic is.

Now to get these thoughts written so I can go somewhere with these...

@synthgal yes.

It's the first major Doom mod I've actually played in like, two years.

@TonicBH I really wanted to like it but they did something to do proper rooms above rooms and it destroys the automap functionality which I absolutely need :(

@synthgal yeah, the biggest downside is it being too easy to get lost and since it uses room-over-room the automap doesn't really work unless you turn "Enable Texture Display" on.

Which might be considered sacrilege if you're a Doom purist.

@TonicBH I tried looking that up but I can't find it, can you please tell me where that option is? the automap is like the one thing that breaks the game for me and if we've already got rooms over rooms the purist in me has been murdered by that

@synthgal It's in Automap Options. I don't know what version introduced that option, but it's in the GZDoom SVN builds at least.
