Design Twitter is the main reason I still even load up the site and its this awful mix of really useful content mixed in with the absolute worst takes, sometimes one after another. Here's two I just saw:

1. Complaints about confluence potentially ripping of Figjam's UI. Which...Figma exists because they copied Sketch's design, layouts, UX patterns, and freaking SHORTCUTS. They cloned Sketch and won because of the (correct!) architecture to do live collab editing.

2. Talking about "design onanism", the tendency for the designer to do things for themselves before the user or to show off. And their counter-example of someone who fights against this was...Jony Ive.

The guy whose relentless, singleminded focus on thinness and the ugliness of ports created the completely user-hostile 2016-2019 Macbook Pros.

@jake oh yeah, the guy who basically sacrificed useability for dubious aesthetic improvements because it satisfied something in him is definitely a design wanker.
