The last time Microsoft made transferring files and settings from an old PC to a new PC easy was when both PCs ran Windows XP. Since then, it's been either inconvenient, inconsistent, or impossible.
@arielmt ugh that's shit... i don't understand why it's this difficult. or why microshit recommend using a beta program that doesn't bloody work... hopefully it gets fixed soon.
semi-relatedly, i was recently restoring files from a back-up i made on windows 10 and there were a fuck tonne of duplicates... they all had the time stamp with when exactly they were backed, but thankfully the file suffix was left alone. i still had to manually delete and rename heaps of files. :|
microsoft needs to get their act together fast.
Microsoft, "Transfer your files and settings to a new Windows PC": https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/transfer-your-files-and-settings-to-a-new-windows-pc-57b8d163-d80e-44fe-8247-62f7cf84a8ed
Both PCs are running the latest Windows 11, and this latest iteration of Microsoft's "trust me, bro, it's official" instructions don't work. The app's there and up to date on both PCs, but THE WINDOWS BACKUP APP ITSELF SAYS IT'S IN A BETA "USER TESTING STAGE"!
