I just realized it's been over a decade since I last answered a tech support phone call about dial-up Internet problems.
Every time it rained, whole communities would be either unable to get above 14.4 Kbps or dial in at all until the telco lines and boxes dried. Many of those support calls came over phone lines that hummed and crackled as loud as the callers' voices. More than once the interference was so bad I had to fall back to radio procedure in order to give support.
@arielmt Oh, dear... That takes me back to the DSL days, when in a new house in a new neighborhood, every time it rained the connection would start to spaz out.
Took three tries until the tech came over while the ground was still wet before they realized the cable that connected the house to the distribution box was nicked, and it would short out when it rained, but it would work fine (and at max available DSL speeds!) in dry weather...
I do NOT miss regular POTS lines, that's for sure...
