Huh, I thought a11y was a weird way of saying 'ally', but it means 'accessibility'.

The 11 stands for how many letters are between the a and the y in the word, kinda like kubernetes and k8s, with the 8 standing for how many letters are in the word between the k and the s.

I feel like convenience (fewer characters to write/type) at the cost of clarity and understanding goes against everything that accessibility stands for ​:neofox_thinking:

@maddy It's not just you. The way I often say it is that them using 'a11y' for 'accessibility' everywhere makes them the furthest thing from an ally for accessibility.
