Hey @bookstodon (or anyone else), anyone have any recs for sci-fi books that involve interstellar travel and/or civilization but not faster than light travel? I don't even care how otherwise "hard" it is, I just think this is a really neat and under-explored story space.

I had asked this a while ago, but didn't know about this group and don't remember if I brought ITV hash tags, so figure I might as well try again. The other time I asked I got recommended House of Suns by Alastair Reynolds and it was amazing.

@megmac I really enjoyed An Unkindness of Ghosts, which is about the residents of a generation ship that's been underway for hundreds and hundreds of years, and the society they've formed as the ship is slowly falling apart

@atinyfairy @megmac
Ship of Fools by Richard Paul Russo is on a similar theme- a generation ship that's been in space so long that they're forgotten their original mission and everything is falling apart, when suddenly they reach a habitable planet and the tension explodes. Loved this book when I picked it up back in 2002 or so, hopefully it holds up.
