i'm kind of curious: if you could go back and redo the history of computing from scratch, what would you change (on a technological level)

i'd probably include some way for files to indicate their filetype other than in the name

@hierarchon Let's see here... better support for cluster computing (Plan 9 started in the right direction with its networked filesystem), gopher being the main web protocol rather than http (http still being used, just...less), and an assumption that everything will be networked one day, so we better think about security *now* rather than kick the can down the road for *later*
