Listening to clips is making me think Griffin McElroy's comic persona some sort of Appalachian Woody Allen, which both tracks and is something I'm not sure what to do with.
The way Woody hits, "We never have any laughs anymore, is the problem," is both a very Yiddish-influenced sentence construction, and very Griffin.

Like, oddly, it's less the nerdy neuroticism, as much as the vocal cadences and Alvie's more surreal punchlines. Like, Griffin would not make a joke about polymorphic perversity, not least because it's 2019. But he would totally make a joke with his wife about feeling up her teeth and kneecaps.
