I realize the topic of minors on fedi is complicated, but I have experience as a minor on the internet (duh, like we all do), and I can confidently say that being a kid on the internet mostly did nothing but harm my mental health. And if you're under 18 and reading this, you should log off.
When I was a very young child in 1994, a man tried to approach me in ONE OF THE FIRST 3d chat programs _ever made_
When I was entering internet forums in 1999, I was harassed ruthlessly by adults and my sense of self was massively warped
I would probably be a different person today if only I stuck to looking up cheat codes and nothing else
Go play minecraft or something

@cmdr_nova I also have experience as a minor on the internet. As a severe CSA survivor, i can tell you the internet saved my life. My abusers hated that I had access. The access to support was something I didn't have anywhere else. It made me realize that it wasn't normal and there was a whole world out there. So even if you had a not great experience, telling minors to never engage with the internet is maybe not the best.
