Question for folks who donate #plasma
Any of y'all have hEDS or POTS?
I've seen mixed reviews on whether you can donate if you have hEDS/POTS.
I was finally cleared by my doc last visit- no more anemia, so I was considering donating to try and get some more funds.
@bengesko@disabled.social Are you talking about whether they'll accept your blood or whether it's a good idea? I have POTS and hEDS (assuming you mean hypermobile) I cannot because I have super bad vasovagal syncope. I try to minimize my blood draws as much as possible because any time I get stuck it's pretty much a guaranteed episode unless I'm flat on my back
@puppygirlhornypost2 If they'll take donations!
I never have issues with getting blood taken for tests- I am VERY lucky that my hEDS decided to ignore my veins, and I'm a "dream stick" (I suspect it's because of the testosterone)
@bengesko@disabled.social the only thing im aware of is that we shouldn't donate our organs bc eds is a connective tissue disorder snd it can seriously harm someone if our organs fall out of them
@bengesko
i agree with @puppygirlhornypost2
if no pots probably good on the heds fronts. Depending on why you had anemia, I would ask your doctor first before selling plasma.
@bengesko @puppygirlhornypost2 I was thinking like if your body couldn't produce enough red blood cells cause of a genetic issue. Glad your feeling better, good luck 👍
i sold blood when i was younger and everything was fine for me
@budsofstone @puppygirlhornypost2 Thanks! Thankfully, my blood is pretty decent, my body just doesn't know how to pump it properly lol.
@budsofstone @puppygirlhornypost2 The anemia was a long recovery from post-op complications. I had my last infusion last year and my levels have been stable since!
