having a really hard time here lately with the word queer. i know that it upsets a lot of people for very valid reasons and that for a lot of people it’s still a slur but..... it’s how i identify. it feels so much more right than “bi” or even “pan” and it took me so much time to feel confident enough to finally identify as queer and it felt so so good to start identifying as that and saying it and claiming that word. so to feel like i now shouldn’t be saying it is.. tough

The fuckers who say "queer is a slur" will also say they support non-binary people but the moment people identify with a specific MOGAI identity they'll jump on them like wolves. They want to replace the gender binary with a gender trinary. You're allowed to identify as "non-binary" but nothing further than that.

@danishcookies i‘ve gotten your point! i know folks who very much aren’t like that who don’t like the word queer so id still like to be respectful of those folks which is why i brought it up. id really rather not demonize some of my friends who i think have very valid reasons for disliking the word.

I don't personally think all of these people are bad. A great chunk of these gatekeepers are easily impressionable kids who are still deep in cringe culture. I'm merely saying this is a sign of potential reactionary beliefs they're holding. How you would solve this (talk further, confront, let it go...) is your choice.
