i've talked before about how sometimes pokemon is alienating to me, but what's really alienating is, honestly, mario.

i had a gameboy color growing up. i played pokemon red, blue, & crystal. i was a pokemaniac. i couldn't get enough. i even had pikachu slippers.

i didn't have any nintendo home consoles between my older brother's NES & the gamecube i bought from a friend for $20 after the wii had already come out. SNES, N64, and frankly even gamecube forward, it's all mysteries to me. i played a little bit of super mario world at my mom's friend's kid's place (when he would let me ​)
