if there was a linux distro that was honest-to-god accessible for average computer users, it would be mocked by tech dorks and dunked on mercilessly. it would be branded absolutely terrible and relegated to complete obscurity.

@jackdaw_ruiz I mean ubuntu is relatively accessible, I had my pretty tech-inept family using my computer with it for a while and they generally managed, though tbh that is just because once they have opened Google Chrome its pretty much all the same

ah, yeah. Ubuntu does prolly represent the current high water mark in ease. not like there's an objective measure in such things, but average time before something compels you go to the command line seems like a good starting metric.

and to your point about opening a browser, there is something to be said about how average computer use has really just become using the machine as a window into online platforms. so that certainly simplifies a whole dang lot.
