I'm looking into getting an android device so I can do #accessibility / #a11y testing on it. Do you have any recommendations on what I should get? (I've been stuck in the Apple eco system for most of my digital life.)

Hmm, I don't believe any of the OEM customizations to Android should impact its A11Y tools, like the screen reader, but my gut says the closer to vanilla Android you go the easier it will be to isolate an issue to the software causing it if you can't immediately reproduce it. Therefore I recommend a Pixel device.
