But man I had such a good time at that show. It was the 25th anniversary of The Lonesome Crowded West, one of my favorite albums of all time, and they played the entire thing, and I loved every second of it.

This is secretly what I actually want from shows: just the stuff I know front to back. Do not surprise me, my musical tastes have been baked into my aging brain.

@hellamander haha yes!!!! i often find shows have fairly crappy sound tech, so i'm really there to be played songs I already like. The muffled badly mixed mess will fondly remind me of the song I know, and i will be happy. But if you try to play me something new I will just be like "i can't really tell what you meant for this to sound like, can we go home to my hi-fi plz"

@jjwolverine ha yes, between the generally marginal sound at the Showbox and the lead singer's chest cold, I realized at a few points that what they were playing was probably completely unintelligible to people who didn't know the album by heart themselves
