I've never used a password manager (except for work where it's required) because I really don't like the idea of having such an all encompassing single point of failure like that

But I'm reaching the point where I think I might just have to. I have so many accounts and my brain just can't fit any more good passwords in

So uh does anyone out there have any recommendations

@lion i currently use enpass but i am thinking of switching to bitwarden, which is recommended by lots of folks. enpass is ok but clunky in ways i’m not sure i could explain. i have tried 1password but i really dislike their UI. i would not recommend LastPass due to their many security issues in the past

Thanks, yeah LastPass is the one I have to use for work & I heard all about their breaches so it's both the one I'm most familiar with and the one I definitely don't want to use for myself haha

@lion@computerfairi.es bitwarden works well, has been audited, and you can self-host your own server with https://github.com/dani-garcia/vaultwarden so you don't have to rely on someone else's computer

@lion I use enpass, my partner uses bitwarden. I know a Bitwarden server can be self-hosted (which we're looking into), and Enpass allows you to keep a device as the 'master' and have a device sync up to it when on the same wifi if privacy is a concern.

If it's not, then most password managers are pretty good really. You can even use a really simple password manager like Keepass and sync it using your Google drive if you want
