at least it's better than how the switch app handles users who've rooted their phone

and no, that's not a bug or an issue caused by rooting - it intentionally crashes on rooted devices

animal crossing pocket camp says there's a "connection error" but gives you an error code that means "you modified your device"

apps like netflix and pocket camp don't even appear in the play store, and if you open a link to view them directly, you're told that your device is "not supported" by the app

the netflix app actually works fine, though. if you can install it from somewhere else, or temporarily turn off magisk, xposed, etc. to show it in the play store, it'll work fine.

to be fair, all of these apps *do* have their reasons for not allowing you to use them on modified devices:

- netflix: ensure users can't download videos in unencrypted formats
- snapchat: to avoid tools that allow users to save snaps without screenshot notifications
- pocket camp: prevent cheating tools
- switch online: nintendo are just jerks

even some of google's own apps do this. google pay (not play, pay) straight up tells you that it's not gonna let you use it on a modified device

@lynnesbian Honestly I think in the case of Google Pay, it's for the user's own good: they may inadvertently have hurt security in some way by rooting it and they likely don't want to be responsible for it.
