retro tech doesn't care about your sensory overload. retro tech predates a lot of people trying to get into it today. you gotta learn the stuff eventually or you might end up, at best wasting a lot of hours in frustration, at worst frying expensive hardware
i'm not trying to gatekeep by saying that you NEED to know the difference between TTL and RS232. i'm saying if you're trying to do serial stuff without it, you WILL have a bad time, through nobody's fault but your own
at least with retro computer stuff. these days everything is TTL and nobody cares
