my favourite feature of ubuntu 18.04 LTS is how it constantly hounds me to update to ubuntu 20.04 LTS and every single time i try to it tells me that i can't and then hounds me again that i should update
pretty sure i broke stuff because ubuntu doesn't expect you to be using not bash as your shell for doing a release upgrade and there's about a hundred lines of fish errors on my terminal now because some package's post-install script tried to bash script on me
gonna be real fun to try to reboot this machine and guess whether it will or it won't

it's looping between trying to start x and crashing x and i can't even ctrl-alt to a terminal
i broke my art computer because of compulsory updates :) and linux people complain about windows

every google result for a broken lightdm restarting suggests you to go to one of the ttys using ctrl-alt-f# but you can't access the ttys if lightdm keeps restarting and therefore stealing the screen away from tty
how do you fix anything on a linux system when you can't access the terminal and every solution to a linux problem is a terminal command lmao
linux is never going to be a desktop operating system
at least it booted again? and the dist-upgrade finished? boy this is a mess
i still don't have a working systray by the way so unless i use the terminal i literally can't change network settings
