Firefish's Mastodon API had problems and never seemed to work with clients (in my experience). And this goes out to most if not all fediverse servers; the moderation tools are insufficient.
Normally I'd be alright behind the moniker of "It has enough features" since I think people are a little obsessed with 'more'. But something that is serving the internet needs to have an active maintainer, if for no other reason than to do maintenance releases addressing stability and inevitable security bugs.
