there are already usb-powered devices that redirect/mirror a modern wifi connection to ethernet in order to use older computers on modern wifi

why can't we have those devices also strip HTTPS

i might have to do some researching and prototyping

I think any openwrt supported device could do it if it has enough ram to run a transparent proxy. Depends on how strict your usb-powered requirement is.

Oh, could you point me to one? I've wanted exactly something like this for a long time!

@82mhz been using this with my g3 ibook ebay.co.uk/itm/123334103983 classilla can't open the set up page but you can make it generate its own AP as well as be a bridge, so you can use a modern smartphone to pick which wifi to bridge to ethernet, and your ibook is fully wireless again without an outdated airport
